Ear procedure: case #1

Ear procedure: case #1

Whether by accident, birth, or injury, enlarged or asymmetrical ears or torn earlobes can attract unwanted questions and attention that can, over the course of time, undermine self-confidence at worst. On the other end of the spctrum, they make wearing earrings difficult, and, in the case of split earlobes, impossible. Furthermore, as we age, the skin of the earlobe thins, leaving wrinkling and a flattened, distended appearance.

The good news is that all these issues can be taken care of expertly via quick office procedures. To correct torn, enlarged, or split earlobes, our team engages in a number of techniques that add strength and structure to the ear.

Incisions to “pin back” enlarged ears mend over the course of a few weeks and, when healed, are essentially imperceptible. At that point, re-piercing can also be performed. The procedure is so mild that patients can even wear pierced earrings throughout the healing process, if they’d like.

In the case of aging, wrinkled earlobes, we may also use a combination of cosmetic injectables or fat transfer, in which belly fat is removed, filtered, and then injected where needed.  Laser procedures can also help resurface the skin.
