Always choose a moisturizer based on your skin type. An easy way to determine this is to examine how your skin feels at the end of the day. Is your T-Zone dry, oily, or somewhat normal? Our clinical aestheticians suggest using the following guidelines to choose the perfect moisturizer for you:
Emollient rich creams are the best choice because of the rich hydration content. These creams are ultra moisturizing and softening for the skin. Lactic acid is also a great moisturizing ingredient because it is the most hydrating of the AHA family.
Serums and water-based moisturizers are best. Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient for oily skin because it sits on the skin and does not clog pores.
A light lotion or serum is your best bet because they will not clog your pores. Lactic acid is also great for this skin type.
Lotions are a great choice.
No matter what your skin type, make sure you exfoliate before hydrating so your skin can absorb the moisturizer. Some exfoliating ingredients include lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acids. Always remember that moisturizing is just one of many steps in your skin care routine. Follow up with an SPF to protect your soft skin from the rays of the sun.

A few months ago, your kids left for college, and they probably forgot a few things. Just because they left home, does not mean they should leave their dental care there. When your college students head home for Thanksgiving this month, make sure they have all of their dental needs in that dorm room! Dr. Tom George, deme’s Director of Dentistry, recommends the following for keeping your student’s smile bright and white:
- Sonicare Toothbrush– electric toothbrushes drive fluid deep in between teeth and along the gums for a deep clean and whiter, healthier smile.
- Fluoride Toothpaste– fluoride toothpaste helps remove plaque, strengthen enamel and prevent tooth decay.
- Glide Dental Floss– Glide floss slides easily into tight spaces in your mouth for a more comfortable flossing experience.
